Celebration and appreciation to donors of life this June 14

International

The GEAP carries out the 11th International Blood Drive Marathon «With love from my heart I donate blood and save lives»

Every June 14, the world celebrates World Blood Donor Day to recognize those who give life to others, volunteer donors who are not paid, and in turn, to promote the voluntary, altruistic and habitual donation of safe blood as a necessary act to ensure the supply and demand of this vital liquid and its components.

In Latin America, the United States and Spain, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) joins the organizations and institutions that celebrate this day in gratitude to all the people who have saved the lives of others through blood donation.

This celebration is also held in order to motivate voluntary donors to continue donating and to encourage healthy people who have never donated, and in particular for young people to carry out this act of solidarity.

The GEAP, through the Comprehensive Blood Donation Program: Life is in the Blood, will perform acts of recognition to voluntary and regular donors, at the same time, they will carry out blood drives within the framework of the 11th International Blood Drive Marathon, which will be extended throughout the month of June.

"With love from my heart I donate blood and save lives", is the slogan of the marathon that promotes blood donation as an act of love towards other human beings, in order to motivate citizen participation and recognize the people who donate in a voluntary and habitual way.

Since 2013, the GEAP has focused its efforts on promoting a culture of voluntary, altruistic and regular donation of safe blood, which is currently part of the work and it also develops in different countries the Communication Educational Program (PEC VIDA) to raise awareness and increase the number of donors.

In addition, it raises a law proposal in the governmental scope that tries to take part in updating  legislation of the countries that need to fortify the national systems of blood supply.
