Panama started its national Blood Drives

PANAMÁ STARTED ITS NATIONAL BLOOD DRIVES

The coordination in Panama of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace with the National Blood Program of this country, started the promotion and diffusion marathons to encourage voluntary blood donations in different public and private universities of the country, starting with the Latin University of Panama (ULP), where 32 effective blood units were collected, from which the Hospital Luis “Chicho” Fabrega de Panama was benefited.

These activities are part of the Project “Life is in the Blood” of the GEAP, where the national blood drives and international marathons of blood donations that have been carried out for the last two years, are part of the tools of the Communicational Education Program for the Formation of a Culture of Voluntary and Regular Safe Blood Donation.

The simulation room of the Latin University of Panama, with headquarters in Santiago province of Veraguas, held the invitation in the chambers of this educational institute, with the support of the administration of the ULP. This university decided to offer a ten-hour social work workshop to all the students who participated in this blood drive organized by the GEAP.

A participation of more than 50 students mainly from the medical faculty and medical technology, who had medical evaluations from the technical team of the Hospital Luis “Chicho” Fabrega. One of the purposes of the GEAP with the blood drives is to support health centers, rising volunteer donations in their blood bank, making the necessary arrangements for the dates of the next carnival, in February.
