Seminar in Mexico promotes the application of the Chair for PeaceGlobal Embassy of Activists for Peace

The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Mexico, promoted the application of the Chair for the peace and happiness of the integral human being, through a seminar called: "Contribution of the Chair for Peace in the formative process of the integral human being". Event held at the Technological Institute of Querétaro, where more than 700 students participated, 8 rectors and directors of higher education from different universities.

The Chair for Peace and Happiness of the Integral Human Being, which is carried out under the project International Alliance of Universities for Peace (ALIUP), has among its objectives to develop leadership competencies in students, as promoters of social transformation, through a process of integral education oriented to the culture of peace and volunteering.

The seminar began with welcome words by José López, director of the Technological Institute of Querétaro, who mentioned: "Today we have a student generation lacking the fundamental ethical values, we must undoubtedly bet on comprehensive education."

On her part, Karen Rea, spoke on the subject: "The knowledge of the heart as a foundation for an education directed to the Integral Peace of the human being". During his speech he emphasized that the heart is not only an organ that gives life but that makes people better citizens and human beings.

 

The student and activist Clara Montemayor spoke on the theme: Youth, a fertile field to sow the seeds of peace." In her dissertation, she said: "I am young, and with me I take responsibility for my decisions to forge a future where peace is my main mission and teaching future generations."

After the exhibitions, a work table was organized with the participation of Pablita Vizcaya, general director of the Rodolfo Vera Zapata Institute; María Candelaria, Director of the Inter-American Institute of Health, Nohemí Cerecedo, Director General of Athens Higher Education; Eduardo Romero, director of the Central University of Querétaro and Moisés Ramírez, director of the Gabino Barreda Center for Higher Studies.

Each of them intervened on the following topics:

  • Pedagogical approaches for the knowledge and practice of universal principles and values in the student training process.

  • An integral education that favors the construction of the culture of peace, the promotion and protection of Human Rights.

  • The values of democracy and social responsibility of universities and institutes of higher education, in the process of building a culture of peace in society.

The seminar fulfilled the main objective of implementing the construction of a Chair for Peace in the main study centers of the state of Querétaro, such as:
