The facilitators of the Educational Communication Program for the formation of a culture of voluntary, altruistic and regular donation of safe blood (PEC VIDA), developed during the month of April, educational awareness sessions in the city of Trujillo, Peru.

Families and schools participated in the altruistic days that were held with the purpose of promoting the principle of love and universal values, so that blood donation is a voluntary, supportive, civic, altruistic, responsible and habitual act.

With the presence of teachers, several awareness-raising activities were held.

Through PEC VIDA, a strategic component of the Integral Program: Life is in the Blood, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Peru, seeks to raise awareness in society about blood donation, in order to promote citizen participation to guarantee this vital liquid to all the people that require it.

Educational field. The educational sessions were given at the I.E. Emblematic Centenary Pedro Mercedes Ureña, where 1,247 students from the initial, primary and secondary stages received information about the voluntary blood donation culture.

Familiar scope. 10 families opened their doors to receive the PEC VIDA facilitators, who developed the educational sessions. The activities resulted in the integration of eight people into the Family Club PEC VIDA (a group of volunteers that organizes educational sessions and blood drives, among other activities).

Awareness and university day

From April 16 to 18, at the Universidad Peruana Los Andes (UPLA), located in the city of Huancayo, sensitization days were held with 1,761 students and teachers from this house of studies.

On April 19, the blood drive was held, which was supported by the Blood Bank of Carrión Hospital, reaching a total of 54 effective blood units.

For the month of May the GEAP in Peru has planned a series of activities to increase citizen participation and the promotion of a culture of solidarity that contributes to the improvement of the quality of life and integral happiness among the human family.
