Altruist work benefits Puerto Rican citizens

The International Campaign “Life is in the Blood”, organized by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), proposes to contribute in the gathering of self-sufficiency, availability and the warranty of blood and its derivatives through the voluntary, altruist and regular donation of this vital liquid.

Under this Project, the GEAP in Puerto Rico, as part of the 9th Blood Drive, carried out 4 marathons on March 8, 14 and 28, and on April 8, with the Servicios Mutuos blood bank and the Administración de Servicios Médicos de Puerto Rico (ASEM).

  • The Columbia Central University in Caguas.

    The Inter-American University of Arecibo.

    The University of Puerto Rico (UPR), Mayaguez Campus

    The Fraternity Gamma in Cayey.

The voluntary donors who participated in the collection activities received a talk about the specific goals of the Integral Program: Life is in the Blood.

The Blood Banks were stocked

With the development of the international blood donation marathons, the GEAP has achieved to stock 71 hospitals in Puerto Rico who attend thousands of patients that need blood transfusion to keep living. 

During 7 blood drive marathons, 2,876 blood units have been collected. This number indicates that citizens have an active participation in benefit of the human family. 

Citizen Solidarity

Next, you will find the results obtained in each one of the marathons that have been held in this territory: 3rd Marathon - 622 effective units; 4th Marathon- 385 pints collected. 5th Marathon - 845 blood donations.

Likewise, in the 6th Marathon– 448; 7th Marathon – 40; 8th Marathon – 219; and in the 9th Marathon - 317 effective safe blood units.
