Multicultural meeting strengthens the identity of indigenous peoples

International Day of the Indigenous Peoples

Through the social program "Children of Mother Earth", the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Mexico, celebrated the International Day of the Indigenous Peoples in the Central Mosuc Park of Chiapas, together with representatives of the Tzeltal, Tzotzil, Chol and Zoque communities, and students and activists for peace.

The activity addressed issues concerning the current situation of indigenous peoples, in turn, knowledge and ancestral practices for the care and protection of Mother Earth was highlighted.

Among the topics presented in support of these communities was the importance of community media to strengthen their cultural identity.

The event was supported by Francisco Méndez, coordinator of the Center for Revitalization and Study of Languages. Likewise, the teachers of the Intercultural University of Chiapas (UNICH), Adriana López, Luis López and Cristina Martínez; and the representatives of Community Radio AMAC Mexico, Jesús Hernández and Lluvia Pérez.

The Fair for the Peace of Mother Earth had four modules:

More than 150 people toured the modules where the Guardians for the Peace of Mother Earth gave talks. On the other hand, the musical group the Children of Mother Earth of San Cristóbal presented songs with ancestral instruments.

The event counted with the support of the municipal press and Televisa headquarters in Chiapas
