Regional Meeting in Chile: “If not us, then who?”

Through the Children of Mother Earth International Program, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Chile, carried out the 3rd Regional Meeting of the Children of Mother Earth with the purpose of uniting the indigenous peoples and seek solutions in favor of the planet.

The activity was carried out in the city of San Pedro of Atacama where the indigenous community, Lican Antai was the host of the event; Aymara, Chango, Diaguita, Kolla, Mapuche and Quechua peoples also assisted the event.

The participants presented proposals taking into account the ancestral wisdom for the care, protection and total restoration of Mother Earth.

Mesa de trabajoIn the development of the Meeting, 136 representatives of the indigenous peoples gathered in 11 working groups, where they presented their proposals, which were written in a document that was read in plenary by the spokespersons of each table. For her part, Elena Marín, representative of the Chango people, expressed in her participation her concern for the peoples that have not been recognized by the State.

To conclude, the indigenous people thanked the GEAP for the space for dialogue that allowed them to reflect on this ancestral thought: “If it is not us, then who?”
