438 cities of America declare Planet Earth as a living being
Local governments of America support the coalition of the Inter-American Environmental Charter and the Proclamation of the Rights of Mother Earth.
A total of 438 cities from different countries of America issued resolutions, decrees and proclamations recognizing the planet Earth as a living being with rights, in which they assumed the commitment to protect the environment and natural resources, and to promote the environmental proposals of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP).
As part of the volunteer work, peace activists from 14 nations socialized with local governments the environmental principles promoted by the GEAP, with the purpose of informing the political authorities about the institution's proposals.
The mayors, councilors and prefects confirmed the importance of adopting these ethical-legal precepts, to establish links of collaboration between official bodies and civil society, so that they work together for the preservation of Mother Earth, which led to the approval and issuance of resolutions.
The governors who signed the proclamations exhort their peers in all regions to issue the official documents, in order to shape public policies in common to achieve the objectives proposed in support of the care and protection of the environment.
To date, Colombia leads the list of countries with the most resolutions issued by the authorities of cities and governorates, with a total of one hundred and eighty decrees (180), followed by Mexico with sixty (60), Chile with forty-two (42), Paraguay with thirty-seven (37) and Venezuela with thirty-five (35) resolutions. Similarly, the following countries issued proclamations: United States, Guatemala, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Honduras, Puerto Rico, Panama and El Salvador.
Countries united for the peace of Mother Earth
Governments, mayors and indigenous peoples of 14 countries of America support the Proclamation of Constitution for the rights of Mother Earth, adding efforts for the preservation of the environment through alliances with civil society.
Colombia
Colombian government authorities issued 180 resolutions, including 11 decrees and a proposal in support of the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth, promoted by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) through the International Program Children of the Mother Earth. Mexico
60 municipal governments of Mexico spoke in favor of the recognition of Mother Earth as a living being, by issuing a document approved by the council of each entity, which expresses its commitment to the disclosure of the rights of the planet Earth. (See complete note).
Chile
In order to raise awareness among citizens about the seriousness of the environmental damage of the planet Earth, during June, July and August of 2018, government authorities of the Republic of Chile, approved 42 decrees in favor of the Proclamation of the Constitution for the Rights of Mother Earth promoted by the GEAP. Paraguay
Governments and municipalities of the Republic of Paraguay adopted the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth, by issuing 37 resolutions that support this environmental proposal promoted by the GEAP. (See complete note).
Venezuela
Municipal governments of Venezuela approved 35 documents that support the Proclamation of the Constitution for the Rights of Mother Earth, which was presented by the GEAP volunteers to the governors and mayors of various regions of the country, during April, May, June, July and August 2018. U.S
Municipal authorities of the State of Texas, New Mexico, New Jersey, Massachusetts and North Carolina, granted the Proclamations that were delivered to the representatives of the GEAP in sessions of the Municipal Councils and in meetings in the offices of the burgomasters. (See complete note).
Guatemala
During the months of May and June, the EMAP volunteers presented before the mayors of Sacatepéquez, Chiquimula, San Marcos, Guatemala and Sololá, the Proclamation of the Constitution for the Rights of Mother Earth, a proposal accepted by the mayors, who approved 15 resolutions in favor of the environment. Brazil
Mayors of the state of Acre, Roraima and the municipality of São Paulo Brazil, signed 14 decrees that support the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth, a document promoted by the GEAP. (See complete note).
Ecuador
Municipal Autonomous Decentralized Governments of Ecuador approved 11 resolutions in support of the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth, proposal presented by the GEAP to the Organization of American States (OAS). (See complete note).
Peru
11 Proclamations that contribute to the protection, preservation and defense of the ecological and environmental balance of the planet Earth, were granted to the GEAP in protocolary events held in Chupaca, Satipo, Huancayo, Concepción - Manzanares, Trujillo, Nepeña and the city of Lima. Honduras
With the purpose of preserving the future of the living beings that inhabit the planet, the Gobernación de Tocoa and 6 mayors of Honduras pronounced themselves through resolutions in favor of the Proclamation of the Constitution for the Rights of Mother Earth promoted by GEAP. (See complete note).
Puerto Rico
With the aim of promoting the recognition of Mother Earth as a living being, volunteers from the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), visited four city halls of Puerto Rico, to present the Proclamation of the Constitution for the Rights of the Mother Earth, proposal approved by the highest authority of each jurisdiction. Panama
In an event held in the assembly hall of the building of the mayor of Panama, Mayor José Isabel Blandón Figueroa, issued a document stating that the body he represents adopts the Proclamation of the Constitution for the Rights of Mother Earth, presented before this institution by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP).
Likewise, during September, the GEAP received from government authorities two documents that support the Proclamation of the Constitution for the Rights of Mother Earth, in events coordinated by the Government of Panama, the Mayor's Office of La Chorrera and the Municipal Council of the Capital District, where media and members of civil society also participated. El Salvador
In the meeting room of the mayor's office of the city of San Martín, department of San Salvador, volunteers from the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), held a meeting with the mayor Víctor Manuel Rivera Reyes, where they presented the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth.
The meeting was attended by the syndic Emilio Contreras Trejo and Juan Alberto Casun Gómez, municipal secretary. After evaluating the environmental proposal in an ordinary meeting, the councilors of the municipality issued a certification document that contributes to the preservation of the environment.
