250 trees are sown in the lake of Amatitlán

To celebrate World Environment Day (June 5) the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Guatemala, the Guardians for the Peace of Mother Earth, with the biosphere Brigade, joined the campaign of reforestation of the lake basin of Amatitlán.

The objective of the activity was to contribute to the preservation of the lake promenade with the planting of 250 trees. The sowing was developed with the permission of the Department of green areas of the Municipality of Villa Nueva municipality of Guatemala.

Likewise, the Authority for the Sustainable Management of the Basin and the Lake of Amatitlán (AMSA), the authorities of the National Council of Protected Areas (CONAP), Neighborhood Association of the La Barca colony, University of San Carlos, students and the civil society participated.

The GEAP participated as part of the International Program Children of Mother Earth, whose purpose is to provide solutions, promote and carry out forceful actions that guarantee the continuity of the life of human beings and other living beings in harmony with Mother Earth,
